Our hunting territory, area #9, covers more than 10,000 square miles of untouched wilderness, stretching north from the Pelly River to the Yukon-Northwest Territory border. Within the area there are major blocks of mountains including the Keele Peak, Rouge Range, Mt. Selous, Selwyn Mountains, South Fork Range, Itzi Mountains, Tay Range, Blind Mountain and Anvil Range. Elevations vary from 3500 feet to 10,000 feet with the timberline at about 5000 feet. Within these mountains are the headwaters of the Hess, North & South Macmillan, Tay, and Ross Rivers.
Without a doubt, this area covers some of the most remote and beautiful country in the north. Base Camps are located at key points throughout the area and give us access to all of the mountain ranges. These camps are the jump off points for arrival and departure of our area. They are accessible only by floatplane. Accommodations vary between camps, from cabins to wall tents, which are equipped with beds and heaters. Each camp has a cook and an excellent supply of food. At base camp, clients are supplied with a competent guide, horses, tents, food and other necessary equipment for the hunting trip. Spike camps on the mountain are not as comfortable as the base camp. Whether you hunt horseback or backpack you will be provided with cook stoves non heated mountain tents.
